Hurricane Impact Sliding Glass Doors

It is time to stop worrying about hurricanes and be prepared!

Builders Glass of Bonita, Inc. and our sister company, Builders Glass of Bonita,  can replace your outdated doors in a few days time. Hurricane Impact Doors can protect your home from 180 mph winds. The laminated impact glass is nearly indestructible. Two pieces of glass are laminated with a impact resistant interlayer. The same interlayer that will protect you from hurricane winds also blocks up to 99% of the damaging UV rays.

The security that these doors provide will be year round. One of the most common ways we see burglars enter homes is through the sliding glass doors. The Impact glass is impossible for a burglar to get through. The locking system that comes standard also adds additional security.

Non-Impact Sliding Glass Doors

Replacement Sliding Glass Doors can give your home a whole new look, and can be installed in one day.

The brand of doors that is used varies depending on quality desired, design(wind) pressures required, and lead time that is desired. PGT sliding glass doors can be installed in a few weeks. Southeastern Door offers a top of the line door, but the lead times can be a bit longer. Southeastern doors are in high demand in Florida. Already have Hurricane Shutters? Non-impact sliding glass doors are the answer to replace your outdated worn doors!

What does non-impact mean?

Non-impact sliding glass doors are doors that have not been tested for impact resistance. The non-impact doors are tested for hurricane winds only. This means that they can withstand the force of the storm but if something flies towards the door the glass could break. The glass used in non-impact is single pane 1/4″ tempered. Insulated is also available.

By the Florida Building Code non-impact doors can be installed on houses with shutters or in condo’s above 60 feet. Above 60′ they have found that debris does not fly and therefore impact glass is not required. Lee County, Collier County and the City of Naples have all modified the code. Feel free to call Builders Glass of Bonita for more information on your local codes.
